The Ballan Arboretum Group
Ballan Historic Tree Walk

Welcome to the Ballan Historic Tree Walk. Our town is very fortunate that early settlers had the foresight to plant many trees which today not only make for a wonderful ambience but also provide year-round interest and summer shade.
To honor the efforts of the early settlers and ensure that these now mature significant trees get the recognition they deserve, the Ballan Arboretum Group has created the Ballan Historic Tree Walk. Some of the beautiful trees are on nature strips, on public land, in Caledonian Park, and on private properties. By creating this walk we want to enhance the importance of these trees, ensuring that trees in our town are well cared for, and teach about the natural environment.
We would like to entice our residents to go for healthy, interesting and informative walks, and also get visitors to come to Ballan and take a leisurely walk through our beautiful township, admiring our historic trees.
The interactive map on this website will lead you through the walk, and QR codes on individual trees provide stories about each tree as well as horticultural information.
Enjoy the walk!
